Hey Photographer!
With a no-BS approach, a can-do attitude, and my loyal fur missile, Oakley, by my side, I’m here to help you cut through the noise and build a business that works as hard as you do. Let’s take those big, scary dreams and turn them into real, tangible wins—one bold move at a time
Alright, let’s chat about something that might seem a little old-school but is seriously underrated—blogging and why it’s time to bring back blogging for photographers. I know, I know, social media is where everyone’s at these days, but there’s still a lot of magic in a good old-fashioned blog post. If your blog’s been gathering dust, it’s time to shake things up. Here’s why your blog should be your new BFF in 2024 Q4 and into 2025!
Remember that amazing Instagram post you put out last week? How long did it stay at the top of your followers’ feeds? Social media is great, but it’s fast-paced, and your beautifully crafted posts can disappear in the blink of an eye. A blog post, though? It sticks around. Weeks, months, even years later, it’s still working for you—bringing in new eyes and potential clients.
Search engines love fresh, relevant content, and a blog is like a neon sign that says, “Hey, Google, check me out!” Every time you hit publish, you’re giving Google more reasons to send people your way. It’s not just about stuffing in keywords (though those do help!); it’s about creating content that your dream clients are searching for. The more you blog, the better your chances of showing up in search results and climbing those rankings.
You’ve got someone on your website—awesome! Now, you want them to stick around, right? A blog filled with stories, tips, and behind-the-scenes peeks into your work gives visitors a reason to stay, explore, and get to know you better. The longer they hang out on your site, the more likely they are to book a session or tell a friend about you.
People love sharing content that resonates with them, and a well-crafted blog post is shareable gold. When you write about a client’s stunning wedding or a killer portrait session, you’re not just showcasing your skills—you’re giving your clients their own little slice of fame. They’ll be more likely to share the post with their friends and family, which means more eyes on your work and more buzz around your business.
A blog is a prime spot to invite visitors to join your newsletter. By offering valuable content, tips, or exclusive behind-the-scenes insights on your blog, you can easily nudge readers to stay in the loop by signing up for your newsletter. Over time, this builds a loyal audience that’s already interested in what you have to offer. Plus, you can give away educational and practical freebies to your audience; like a style guide, gift cards, or e-books. Something I created for my fellow photographers as a Thank You for being part of my community, is a 15-Minute Marketing Plan for Photographers with a Bonus Social Media Planner.
When you blog about your sessions, it’s not just about promoting your work—it’s about celebrating your clients. Whether it’s a wedding, a family session, or a personal branding shoot, your blog can shine a spotlight on their stories, making them feel like the stars they are. This not only strengthens your client relationships but also encourages word-of-mouth referrals. I mean, who wouldn’t want to share a blog post that makes them look amazing?
In a world where everyone’s scrolling through the same feeds, a blog helps you stand out. It’s your space, where you can showcase your personality, your process, and your unique perspective as a photographer. It’s your chance to connect with potential clients on a deeper level and show them why you’re the perfect fit for their needs.
Here’s a little secret—your blog can be the gift that keeps on giving. Once you’ve published a blog post, you can break it down into bite-sized pieces for social media, email campaigns, or even printed materials. This not only saves you time but also keeps your messaging consistent across all platforms. Plus, you can link back to the full post, driving more traffic to your site.
Your blog is the perfect place to share your expertise. Whether you’re offering tips for a successful photoshoot, breaking down the latest trends in photography, or sharing your journey as a creative entrepreneur, your blog allows you to educate and inspire your audience. This positions you as an expert in your field, builds trust with potential clients, and keeps your audience engaged and coming back for more.
So, if your blog’s been collecting cobwebs, it’s time to dust it off and start writing again. Your blog isn’t just a place to show off your latest work—it’s a powerful tool that can drive traffic, build relationships, and grow your photography business. Let’s bring blogging back and make it work for you!
